If you are a privacy advocate like me, you no doubt use Firefox as your browser. It's open-source structure makes for ultimate security, and for privacy firefox cleans your tracks with a simple 'Control-Shift-Delete'. For an added bit of security and privacy, I run a version of Firefox called 'Firefox Portable' from http://portableapps.com/.
Firefox Portable started as a mozillaZine forum topic in June of 2004 by John T. Haller. Since then, Firefox Portable has been moved to PortableApps.com, a community site devoted to the development, promotion and use of portable applications.
Firefox Portable is compatible with most extensions (add-ons) and themes, so customizing your browser is just as easy as configuring your local installation. Updating to newer versions of Firefox Portable is as easy as allowing the auto-update to complete, or download a new version and install over your existing installation. All of your custom settings will be preserved.
So what about privacy? A standard installation of Firefox stores your history, cache, saved passwords etc on your hard drive. What about FireFox Portable? Firefox Portable has its disk cache disabled. Instead, it uses the RAM of the host computer for cache. All cookies and other data is written only to your usb drive. So, at no time is any of your personal data written to the drive of the host computer.
It should be noted that there are some folders created on the host computer when running Firefox Portable. These folders are located in 'documents and settings/application data'. These folders are empty while running Firefox Portable, and are deleted when Firefox Portable closes.

Try using Firefox Portable along with PuTTY Portable.
